Born and raised in Vancouver, Brett Creemer started playing guitar at the age of 12. In grade 8, he was a solid F student in guitar class. Undaunted by his lack of academic success, he nevertheless pursued his dream of becoming a carpenter.

In between building houses and taking roadside naps, he could be found serenading local residents in parks, on mountains, at the beaches and in ferry line ups.

He played his first solicited gig in 1996 at Café Du Soleil on Commercial Drive. From there, he found himself playing regularly at small venues in the community.

In 1999, after bumming around Europe for a couple of years, Brett was introduced to a vibrant community of young professional jazzers in London, UK, some of whom he founded the band “Creemer” with. They played regular gigs in Soho at the 12 Bar Club, the Acoustic Café, and the Kashmir Club, and released an 11-song album titled Here under Gurilla Sound. The album infused jazz, alternative folk, and electronic style sounds to tell the story of the young musicians finding their way in the London art scene.

In 2003, Brett was kicked out of London by UK Visa and Immigration and was forced back to the Vancouver music scene where he co-founded a Pixies cover band called The Knibblers. The band played frequently at venues such as Little Mountain Studio, the Princeton Hotel, and Tangent Café.

The Knibblers eventually morphed into Bonfire Ballerina, known for their dirt folk, dark swing arrangements and originals. Under the new name, the band had a residency at the Main on Main, and could be heard regularly at Guilt and Co., Loopolo Brewing and other local venues.

In 2022, Brett came together with singer Lindsay Highgate to form the Band Letters&Text. The duo is known best for their neo-soul take on popular songs, performing frequently at venues such as Guilt & Co., the Victor, Honey Salt, Brix and Mortar, and D6 Lounge.

After suffering a traumatic brain injury, Brett resurrected Creemer from its graveyard in London where the other members continue with their successful careers in the biz to this day. Creemer is now Brett’s main project for original compositions.

Today, Creemer’s music covers a variety of genres, however it is best known for its alt country/folk sounds.
